Getting started

Your first day with KashGenie, step by step.

Most businesses raise their first bill the same day. Follow these steps in the KashGenie app — or book a call and our team will go through them with you.

  1. 1

Sign up and get the app

Start the free trial with your mobile number and a one-time code, and give your business name. Your workspace is ready in a minute or two, with every feature on. Then install the KashGenie app on your phone or PC and sign in with the same account.

  2. 2

    Fill in your business profile

Your legal and trade name, GSTIN, PAN, address, logo and bank details. These print on every bill, and the GSTIN and state decide CGST and SGST or IGST.

    • Composition dealers: choose the composition scheme, and bills of supply are used by themselves
    • More than one registration? Add each GSTIN; each keeps its own returns
  3. 3

Bring in your items and parties

Download the Excel template, fill in your items, customers and suppliers and upload it — KashGenie checks every row before it imports. Coming from Tally? Bring the masters straight from Tally instead.

    • Items with unit, HSN or SAC, GST rate and prices
    • Customers and suppliers with GSTIN, state and address
    • Sizes and colours as variants; batches and expiry where you need them
  4. 4

    Enter opening stock and balances

Choose the date you start from — any day of the year — and enter what you had then: stock in each godown, and the balance of each account and party. The opening trial balance can come in from Tally or a spreadsheet.

    • Pending bills of customers and suppliers, for bill-wise outstanding
    • Bank and cash balances as on the start date
  5. 5

    Set up your bills

Choose A4, A5 or thermal, add your logo, colours, terms and signature, and set the number series for each kind of bill. Add your UPI ID and a QR for the exact amount prints on every bill.

  6. 6

    Invite your team

Invite each person with their own sign-in and a role — manager, accountant, cashier and more. They see only what their role allows, and every change is recorded with who made it.

    • Branches and godowns, each with its own numbering
    • A counter for each till, with its own shifts and cash
    About branches and roles
  7. 7

    Raise your first bill

Pick the customer and the items and save. Stock goes down, the customer's ledger and your books are posted, and the bill is already in your GST figures. Send it by e-mail or print it at once.

    • At the till? Open the counter in the browser and scan
    • Quotation or order first? Make it in Orders and turn it into the bill later
  8. 8

    Invite your CA

Give your accountant's practice access at the level you choose — view only, books, or full bookkeeping. They work in the same books, ask you about an entry right where it sits, and prepare your returns.

How it works for your CA
  9. 9

Each month: bank, GST and a look at the numbers

Bring in the bank statement from Excel, CSV or the bank's PDF and match it; load GSTR-2B and see what is missing; check GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B and download the files to upload on the GST portal.

    • Report packs can reach you and your accountant by e-mail every month
    • Lock the month once it is filed, so nothing changes behind you
